Terms of use
Last updated: 23 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Door Slam Ltd ("Doorslam", "we", "us"). Please read them before you start. They sit alongside our Privacy policy, which explains how we look after your family's data, including your child's.
If anything here is unclear, email us at support@doorslam.io.
1. Who we are
Doorslam is run by Door Slam Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17025928. Our registered office is Camburgh House, 27 New Dover Road, Canterbury, Kent, CT1 3DN, United Kingdom. Email: support@doorslam.io.
2. What Doorslam is
Doorslam is a revision service for GCSE students. A parent sets up a revision plan for their child. The child then revises in short sessions: revision cards, teaching, worked examples and practice questions. The service also includes:
- Study Buddy: an AI chat helper for your child, inside a session and from their dashboard, that answers questions about revision.
- The AI Tutor: an AI chat helper for you, the parent, that answers questions about revision and about your child's progress.
- Smart marking and Scan & Mark: AI marking of typed answers and of photos of handwritten answers.
- Read-aloud: the app can read text out loud with a computer voice.
- Voice notes: the child can record or type a short note at the end of a session, and listen to their voice notes again later.
- Beats: short AI-made songs that help a child remember a topic.
- Rewards: the child earns points and can ask for rewards that the parent chooses and approves.
- Insights: progress reports for the parent.
Doorslam supports the revision your child's school sets. It is not a school, a teacher or a tutor, and we cannot promise any exam result.
AI features
Several features use artificial intelligence (AI). AI can make mistakes. Marks, explanations and advice from the AI are a guide, not a final answer. Check anything important with your child's teacher. We design the AI helpers to stay on the topic being revised, but we cannot guarantee every answer is right.
3. Who can use Doorslam
- The account holder must be the child's parent or legal guardian, aged 18 or over, and living in the UK. Doorslam is available in the UK only.
- Doorslam is for families. You must be buying as a consumer, for your own child. We do not sell to businesses. A school that wants to use Doorslam would need a separate agreement with us.
- Your child uses Doorslam through your account. You create your child's profile. You can then invite your child by email, so they can sign in with their own password. Children cannot sign up on their own.
- You are responsible for your child's use of Doorslam, and you agree to these terms on their behalf. Please talk to your child about how to use the app, including Study Buddy, and about our privacy policy for young people.
- Keep your password safe and do not share it. Tell us straight away at support@doorslam.io if you think someone else has used your account.
4. The plan, the free trial and payment
4.1 One plan, priced per child
There is one plan. Every feature is included. The price depends on how many children are on it:
- Monthly: £14.99 a month for one child; £27.99 a month for two children; £10.00 a month for each further child.
- Annual: 15% off the monthly price over a year: £152.90 a year for one child; £285.50 a year for two children; £102.00 a year for each further child.
The prices shown are the total you pay. Door Slam Ltd is not currently registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged. If we register for VAT, our prices will stay the same and will include VAT. The price you will pay is always shown before you confirm.
4.2 Free trial
- New customers get a 14-day free trial of the whole service.
- Before you sign up, we show you the key information on its own, separately from these terms: the price, the date your trial ends and your first payment is taken, how often you will be billed, and how to cancel.
- We ask for your card when you start the trial. Nothing is charged during the trial.
- Straight after you sign up, we email you a confirmation with the date your trial ends, the price, your cancellation rights (section 5) and a link to cancel.
- When the trial ends, the plan starts and your card is charged automatically, unless you cancel before the trial ends. If you cancel during the trial, you pay nothing.
- We will remind you by email 7 days, and again 48 hours, before your first payment, with the date, the price and a link to cancel. The app also shows the date your trial ends.
- You can have one free trial. If you have had a plan before, a new plan starts straight away and is charged at once.
- If there is no working card when the trial ends, the plan is cancelled rather than left unpaid.
4.3 Payment
Payments are taken by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Monthly plans are charged every month, and annual plans every year, on the date the plan started, until you cancel.
If a payment fails, your child's access is paused until the payment is made. While a plan is not paid, your child sees a "plan paused" screen and cannot start sessions. You can still sign in, see your account and update your card.
4.4 Changing your plan
You can change your plan in Manage plan:
- Adding a child: the higher price starts straight away. You pay a part-payment now for the rest of the current billing period.
- Removing a child: the lower price starts from your next bill. We do not refund or credit the rest of the current period. Your plan always covers every child on your account, so remove the child from your account first.
- Monthly to annual: the switch happens straight away. You pay the annual price now, less the unused part of the current month.
- Annual to monthly: the switch happens when your annual plan renews. Nothing is charged until then.
- During the free trial: you can change anything at no cost. Your first payment is for the plan as it is when the trial ends, covering every child on your account.
If a payment for a change is declined, the change does not go through and your plan stays as it was.
4.5 Beats songs and tokens
- Each child on the plan can make up to 5 new Beats songs a month, counted from the 1st of each month (UK time). If your child asks for a song on a topic and style that already has one in the library, they get that song and it does not count. If making a song fails, it does not count.
- Extra songs need your approval. If your child has used their 5 songs and asks for another, the request comes to you. You approve or decline it. An approved extra song is paid for with 100 of your child's reward points or 50 of your tokens.
- Tokens can be bought only by you, the parent, in Manage plan on the website, never in your child's app: 500 tokens for £4.99, 1,000 tokens for £8.99, or 2,500 tokens for £19.99. Tokens can be used only for extra Beats songs. They have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money. They do not expire while your account is open. We do not refund tokens, except where the law says we must.
5. Cancelling
- You can cancel at any time, online, in one simple step in your account settings (Billing). You see at most one screen asking you to confirm, and nothing that tries to persuade you to stay. You can also cancel by emailing support@doorslam.io.
- If you cancel during the free trial, you pay nothing.
- If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment (the payment taken when your trial ends), we refund that first payment, less a proportionate amount for the days you used, and your plan stops when you cancel. We pay the refund within 14 days of your cancellation, to the card you paid with.
- If you cancel at any other time, your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, and then stops. We do not refund the rest of a period you have already paid for, except where the law says we must.
- When your plan ends, your child's access is paused. Your account and your child's progress are kept so you can come back, unless you ask us to delete them. The Privacy policy (section 9) says how long we keep them and how to delete your account.
Your legal right to cancel
Under UK consumer law (the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013) you have 14 days to change your mind after you agree to a contract for a digital service.
- Your contract with us starts when you sign up, because that is when we take your card. So your 14-day legal right to cancel runs at the same time as your 14-day free trial.
- When you sign up, you ask us to start the service straight away, during that 14-day period, by ticking "I want my trial to start now".
- If you cancel during the trial, you pay nothing.
- We then give you a second 14 days when your trial turns into a paid plan: the refund of your first payment described above.
New UK rules for subscriptions, under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, are expected in early 2027. Our reminder emails, easy cancellation and the second 14-day period at your first payment already follow what those rules are expected to require. The regulations are not yet published; we will update these terms when they are.
There are no hidden terms: everything you agree to is in these terms and the key information we show you before you sign up.
6. Using Doorslam properly
You and your child agree not to:
- share an account with people outside your family, or let someone else use your child's login;
- copy, sell or share Doorslam's revision content outside your family;
- try to break, overload or get round the security of the service;
- use Study Buddy or the AI Tutor to make harmful, abusive or unlawful content;
- upload photos of anything other than your child's own answers to Scan & Mark.
We may suspend an account that breaks these rules. Where we can, we will tell you first and explain why.
7. Content and ownership
- Doorslam's revision content, design and software belong to us or the people who licence them to us. You may use them for your family's revision while your plan is active.
- Your child's work stays theirs. Your child's answers, notes and voice notes belong to your child. You let us use them only to run Doorslam for your family, as described in the Privacy policy. We do not use them to train AI models.
- Beats songs. Songs are made with a third-party AI music service. Your child can play songs in the app while your plan is active, and a song made for one child can be played to other children who ask for the same topic and style. We do not give you or your child ownership of, or any other rights in, the songs. Sharing a song outside the app is not available.
- Exam-board names belong to the exam boards. Doorslam is not made or approved by any exam board.
8. Rewards
Rewards are agreed between you and your child. You choose which rewards are available and you approve or decline each request. Doorslam does not supply, pay for or deliver rewards, and points have no cash value.
9. Our responsibility to you
- We will provide Doorslam with reasonable care and skill. If something goes wrong, tell us at support@doorslam.io and we will try to put it right.
- We try to keep Doorslam running all the time, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example for maintenance.
- We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, for business losses, or for exam results.
- Our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, for example for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.
10. Changes to Doorslam and to these terms
We may change the service, for example to add or improve features. If we change these terms or the price in a way that matters to you, we will tell you at least 30 days before, by email or in the app. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the change starts.
11. Ending your account
You can close your account at any time. See the Privacy policy for how to have your data deleted. We may close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms; where we can, we will tell you first.
12. Complaints and the law
If you have a complaint, email support@doorslam.io. We will reply within 14 days.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
